Please join us November 16th from 11-4 at Camellia Forest Tea Garden to chat about our crafts, sip tea, taste honey, and browse locally crafted pottery.
The studio is excited to be offering tween/teen wheel class again this fall. We also have Kids' handbuilding, adult wheel classes, and an informative surface decoration workshop.
If you would like to get your hands muddy and are finding it hard to find a class that fits your schedule, please email about a private session.
Come create a holiday ornament, explore a working/teaching studio, and perhaps find something for under your tree, all while supporting a local artist.
This event is free, ornaments will be available for pick up in 2 weeks. A variety of cut out will be available to create and glaze.
Camellia Forrest Tea and Julie Berkowitz Ceramics are coming together November 17th from 11-4. Come meet the makers in the tea garden for a chance to select one of a kind gifts.
As we enter into a new season, I have set some intentions for myself. I have been reading Finding One's Way With Clay by Paulus Berensohn. This book has given me new perspective while working in my studio. The suggested exercises have opened up new ideas to try and spark creativity. Ideas I would like to share with others in new adult classes that are designed not for an end product, as with a lot of programs available, but for the process of reflecting and really becoming engaged with the material in your hands.
I have also begun a journey way outside of my comfort zone. Introducing myself and my art to others outside my family and circle of friends. As with most artist, their work is met with the ever criticizing eye , finding areas where improvements could be made. I have decided that I create functional art to be used and the time might never be right. I will always be learning and improving, but in order to grow I must spread my roots.
Look for new class session starting mid April. If you see a class you are interested in, but no session, please contact me. ~ Julie
